Letter to the Yorkshire Post : The stink of industrial and human waste
|
Two Letters to Local Press on the Subject of 'Compost'
To: Editor, Yorkshire Post
Dear Sir
I read Chris Benfield’s piece on ‘Nitrates clampdown’ in Country Week with mounting astonishment.
Here in Howdenshire we have been subject to mass daily dumping of industrial waste on the land laughingly called compost. The stench is overpowering, yet ordinary manure is apparently now a danger (EU landfill directive).
The people of Harrogate have had ridiculous wind turbines foisted on them against their will in one of the biggest desecrations of the landscape since the industrial revolution. (EU commitment to 22% renewable energy).
The Common Agricultural and Fisheries policies are a living nightmare. The mainstream politicians pretend we are bored with the EU. We are not. We want out and we want out now.
Yours faithfully

Dear Sir
If you are suffering from the stink of industrial and human waste, laughingly referred to as ‘compost’ which is now indiscriminately thrown on the land remember to write and thank Caroline Jackson MEP who got it through the European Parliament in the form of the EU directive on landfill waste.
Yours faithfully
