SPEECHES IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Monday 11 April 2005 : Chippenham Public Meeting
Mr Brown who boasts of his employment record dissembles yet again. Like Sweden 25% of working age Britons had no job in the last 3 months. Yet only 2.1% claimed unemployment benefit. If it doesn’t look good for Brown he just leaves it out of the accounts. A trick if he were in business would land him in gaol. But then of course, Brown has never been in business. The truth is that 2.7 million people of working age were listed as ‘disabled’. Demonstrably preposterous.

The economic argument from both labour and Conservative are fatuous.

They are proposing public spending in : 2011-12

Labour £698 Billion
Tories £663 billion

Tories are not cutting by £35 bn but spending less 7 years hence than Labour.

Some people think Oliver Letwin would be better off in a think tank. He would be better off in a fish tank.

Labour say this would threaten Doctors and Nurses but a glance at last month’s Guardian jobs column shows what these people actually spend their money on.

1997 – 2000
Doctors and Nurses increased by 15%
Managers by 46%

Where is the BBC when these figures need exposing?

He uses one system for inflation for political speeches. New consumer price index 1.1%. But the retail price index for state benefits and index linked gilts but that is 3.1% as he always compares apples with oranges.

Yet he gets away with it because TV presenters and BBC commentators all read media and social studies at university, not economics.

He boasts that the UK economy has grown by 13 years in a row. But it also grew for 26 years consecutively between 1948 and 1973 which puts his boast into some perspective.

He tells us our national debt is low by international standard. But he uses Treasury figures for the UK and the OECD’s for other countries!! This puts us 21 places down against the industrialised world.

He claims to be right all the time. Yet he was wrong in :
April 2002
November 2002
April 2003 was right because he changed his mind at the last minute.

You can’t trust a word the man says. For any businessmen in the audience who have to file audited accounts listen to this. In his accounts none of his private fund initiatives underwritten by government appear on his balance sheet.

I.e.
Network Rail
University Lecturers
Agency nurses in the NHS
Several billion not on the sheet.

Where is public service pension provision? Estimated at £500,000 billion by The City.

Where is his prudence, he sold half our gold bullion at $340 an ounce to buy Euro-paper three years ago bullion this morning is nearly $1100 higher. It cost the exchange over £4 billion. He told the world he was going to do it 3 months before. A field day for those who sold short and re-bought.

We send over £4 billion pounds a year net to Brussels every year while our public services crumble.

Yet the Labour party are fighting the election on the economy, unchallenged by an economically illiterate opposition and totally dumbed down public service broadcasting company.

Things can only get worse. Of course we might all be put out of our misery by suffocating in our own litter!
