Dear Sir

Your article yesterday on the British rebate was pitifully thin on information. Let me fill in the important blanks for your readers. On average our gross contributions to the European Union are £252,000,000 per week. £93,000,000 net after receipts. This includes our rebate. Without our rebate our weekly net contribution would be over £180,000,000 per week. (The Pink Book 2004 Office for National Statistics).

Work out the number of doctors and nurses that would buy, or how much extra old age pensioners could get yourselves.

Yours faithfully
