UKIP "delighted" at planned return to Scarborough
With the other political parties abandoning their annual seaside conferences, the UK Independence Party are bucking the trend and plan to hold their 2007 Conference in Scarborough, new UKIP Party Chairman announced today.

David Campbell Bannerman, who became Chairman on 1 January said: "Scarborough has always given the party a warm reception, and we are delighted to be returning in October 2007. The seaside get-together is an essential part of British politics, which gives Party Members and officials an opportunity to meet informally. It also brings much valued income to seaside resorts at an off peak time."

Godfrey Bloom MEP, whose Yorkshire constituency includes Scarborough said: "Splendid. I am sure that Scarborough will give UKIP a real Yorkshire welcome. At our 2002 Conference held in Scarborough, delegates were made to feel at home, and everyone had a good time. I am sure we can look forward to a similar welcome next year, we are all looking forward to it."
