Statement by Godfrey Bloom January 2006

"Mr Bloom is a member of the Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee in Brussels. He has taken an interest in women's sport over many years and has sponsored women's rugby at Cambridge University since 1994 and has helped with tours and training for Durham, Leeds and Kings University recently.
He also sponsors an annual golfing charity ladies' trophy and a number of ladies' equestrian events, particularly in the field of side saddle riding.
For sometime he has been a lone voice speaking out against clumsy employment legislation which breeds discrimination in the workplace.
He has won massive support from women for his views on both BBC and Times online surveys of opinoin."
