The game of croquet
|
The game of croquet – which was recently headline news thanks to John Prescott - has ironically raised funds for a rival political party. It was a popular attraction during a garden party held to raise funds for the UK Independence Party at Tower College, Rainhill. The event, organised by school principal, Rachel Oxley, and her brother, Dan Oxley, was voted a great success by the many who spent a leisurely afternoon in the landscaped grounds. Guests included UKIP chairman, David Campbell Bannerman, Dr John Whittaker, North West Euro-MP and Godfrey Bloom, the party’s MEP for Yorkshire. "It was a splendid day and it has helped swell the coffers for UKIP at a time when the party is definitely on the up. It is also a very exciting time with MEP Nigel Farage standing in the forthcoming Bromley by-election," said Rachel.
